Delivery of firewood (10th of december 2007)
We visit the camp of internally displaced Roma from Kosovo in the center of Novi Pazar. A local dealer brought a truck with firewood as we had agreed before. The Roma are happy about the firewood, but they ask for food. They say they are hungry most of the time, that garbage containers are their only source of food.

NEW - OFFICE REPORT: Visit to Gazella and Vila Maricic
We visit Mico and Biljana in their home in the Gazella settlement. They are sad because Biljana's 15-year-old daughter Gordana got married some three weeks ago and went to a Roma camp near Leskovac to live with her new husband. She threatened if her parents didn't give her permission to marry, that she would run away to Leskovac.

Meeting with Vesna Jankovic - UNHCR office in Kraljevo - employee in charge of social issues.On her visit to the Committee's regional office in Cacak, she wanted to know about our possibilities to help the Roma IDP camp of "Stari aerodrom" in Kraljevo, because it has been a year since the local commissioner for refugees in Kraljevo promised to help the camp.

THE ROMAS AT BATNJIK SETTLEMENT
In the beginning of January 2006 the local Red Cross in Novi Pazar and UNHCR:s field officer for the area informed us that the people at Batnjik had moved. The chairman for the local Red Cross said that the settlements president had phoned from Subotica - a town in northern Serbia - and that he had said that the romas would return to Batnjik. But the field officer for UNHCR, Miroslav, did not belive so. Neither did we. The move seemed to be final since everything had been teared down at the settlement. But we were wrong: In the middle of february the romas returned to Batnjik. Read more
